just a bit about me

hey everyone! so this is my first blog on my new website, yes a lot of new things. i figured i should get a bit more out there and give new things a shot. this is all very new to me so here it goes!

well my name is Elizabeth and i am the owner/photographer of e.l.s. photos. i began this journey back in 2013. i was a new mommy to a baby boy who was about to be 1 and i couldn't find a photographer to do his first birthday pictures. his birthday is in June which is the graduation season so all photographers i messaged were to busy. at that point i realized why not try and just do the pictures myself. my husband and i went and got a camera so i could just go for it. i had an idea in my mind and i had no one to do it so i went for it. the outcome i thought was great at the time but now when i see what i did i cringe lol. one day before our son's birthday party my husband took me to get a better camera because we thought i needed a better one. we knew NOTHING about what we were buying. after many tries and many returns i finally got THE ONE. once it was done that was it, i was ready to go. i had my new camera with no ways of knowing how to work it so i did what i could and went to YouTube. being an at home mom to a little one i had lots of time to browse YouTube and google. i watched as many tutorials as possible and read all the articles i could. one day i made a friend on Facebook who was a photographer and was willing to help me learn. if it wasn't for her i don't know what i would have done. at that point i was hooked. i took a lighting class with her for indoor studios and learned natural lighting as well. i also took online courses that i found. everything i could get my hands on i did. as time went on i met more photographers who became friends and who helped me grow and learn. till this day i still bug them and absorb as much as i can. everyday is a learning experience. it has been 3 years and i am still learning and still growing. i have learned and grown so much these past 3 years. i am proud to say i have been published 3 times in 3 different magazines, the newest coming out sometime this month. i have created a name for myself which i never thought was possible. it still blows me away when i get people asking me "hey your the owner of e.l.s. photos right?". i will never get use to that. i am beyond proud of the actual clients i have gained and the friends i have made. the only way this was possible was the support and push i got from my husband. he has been there every step of the way and has pushed me to keep going and not give up. if i didn't have his support i don't know where i would be.

so here is to the new website and the new blog. it will take time for me to get use to posting and writing on here but as time goes on i will get better, hopefully.
